Within the issue of capacity accreditation, MISO evaluate the integration (of their current D-LOL accreditation effort) an analysis of the capacity benefits of HVDC in facilitating imports of higher-capacity accredited resources into the MISO market across modeled risk hours. Some value of transmission analysis has already been conducted by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), and more recently by Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG), that can offer a potential methodology for the accreditation of HVDC and External Resources. A solution could be to provide generation capacity facilitated by HVDC transmission a separate class definition under MISO’s latest capacity accreditation reforms they recently filed. This issue is initially assigned to the Resource Adequacy Subcommittee.
