Unlike other major RTOs/ISOs, including PJM, ERCOT, NYISO, and ISO-NE, MISO does not provide publicly available granular load forecasts on a current day, plus 6-day forward-looking basis. While MISO provides a 7-day forecast, those forecasts are only on a regional level (MISO North, Central, and South). Given the size of those three regions, such a forecast does not provide sufficient, actionable information to market participants. Importantly, customers and market participants desiring to serve as demand response and load modifying resources need access to granular load forecasting data at the Local Balancing Authority (LBA) level in order to efficiently plan and potentially respond to market and grid conditions even before MISO initiates any EEA steps. MISO provides a Day Ahead Forecast by LBA; however, that forecast is much less valuable than a current day plus 6-day forward-looking forecast.
