Submitted Feedback

The following feedback is offered by the Entergy Operating Companies ("EOCs")[1] in response to the request made during the December 1st, 2022, Market Subcommittee (MSC) meeting concerning MISO’s Proposed Retirement of the Stored Energy Resource Participation Models.

The EOCs agree with MISO’s proposed changes related to retiring the SER I and SER II product type.

With the shift to the ESR product type, and by virtue of only 1 SER II product on the system (with plans to retire) it makes sense to sunset this product type to save money going forward. We appreciate MISO looking ahead on ways to conserve resources which can be better allocated to other projects.

The EOCs appreciate the opportunity to comment

WPPI agrees with MISO’s proposal to retire the Stored Energy Resource and SER-II participation models as discussed at the MSC, 12/1/22. In particular:

  • Starting 9/1/2022, the Electric Storage Resource participation model became available. We understand that the functionality of ESR participation model accommodates the functionality of the SER and SER-II participation models.
  • Currently, there are no active SER or SER-IIs.
  • Maintaining the SER and SER-II participation models would involve some cost (estimated at $800-$1M over the next 5 years).
