Erik Takayesu brings over 30 years of leadership experience from his tenure at Southern California Edison (SCE), where he held multiple senior roles overseeing critical areas of the utility’s operations. As Senior Vice President of Asset Strategy & Planning, Takayesu was responsible for shaping SCE’s business and asset management strategies, electric system planning, and spearheading technology innovation initiatives. He also led wildfire safety measures, underscoring his commitment to resilience and safety in utility management.
Previously, as Vice President of Transmission, Substations, and Operations, Takayesu managed essential infrastructure projects and directed real-time operations, as well as construction and maintenance across the company’s extensive network. His oversight ensured operational excellence and reliable service to SCE’s 15 million customers.
Takayesu is an active contributor to industry advancement, currently serving on the U.S. Department of Energy’s Electricity Advisory Committee. He has held notable roles within the IEEE Power and Energy Society, including vice chair of the Executive Advisory Council and chair of the 2024 IEEE PES T&D Conference and Exhibition.
With extensive board experience, Takayesu has served on the executive committees for both the Western Energy Institute and Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics. He has also contributed to the North American Transmission Forum board and the NERC Reliability Issues Steering Committee.
Takayesu holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from California State University, Long Beach, and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University. He is a licensed professional engineer in California, reflecting his dedication to engineering excellence and leadership in the energy sector.
