Melissa Brown serves as MISO's senior vice president, chief financial officer and chief compliance officer. In this role she is responsible for MISO's finance division, which includes enterprise resource planning, accounting, supply management and financial and portfolio management and analysis. She also leads the company’s work to comply with state and federal electricity standards.  

Prior to joining MISO, Brown served as chief financial officer for Drax Biomass, Inc., a company that provides fuel for power generation. Brown also worked for more than seven years with Alix Partners. There she provided consultancy services to multiple clients including a public utility, retail gas and electricity, mid-stream energy and power generation both domestically and abroad.

Brown also brings experience with large power generation companies including Calpine, NRG and AES. While at those companies, she served in a variety of roles including Senior Vice President of Strategy and Financial Planning/Analysis as well as Corporate Treasurer.

Brown holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Business Administration from the College of William and Mary.
