A day of friendly competition and family fun at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

MISO unleashed its competitive spirit Saturday, July 22, at the Indiana Sports Corp annual Corporate Challenge in Indianapolis. The state-wide event combines team building with friendly competition, with companies and coworkers connecting to build camaraderie in new ways. The event promotes social and physical wellness, and above all, it brings some of the state’s most spirited workforces together for good, clean fun.

A wide range of ages and tenures participate every year – from new hires to long-time, seasoned employees. Community members, regional employees, interns and families show up to join in and cheer on the competition.

MISO’s Advancing Modern Professionals (AMP) employee resource group (ERG) sponsored the 2023 team. About 30 employees and family members participated.

The action started early, around 7:00 a.m., with a company tailgate. Events like cornhole, home run derby, football toss, running, obstacle courses, soccer shootouts, yoga and Zumba kicked off at 8:00 a.m. for competitors. There were also family activities – like a stroller-friendly 3k and the Family Fun Zone led by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Colts and Pacers. The Corporate Challenge ended with a group picnic at noon.

“It’s a great day to be part of Team MISO… I especially love how family friendly the whole event was. Thank you to everyone from MISO who came out and participated… it was a beautiful day and seemed like people had fun,” wrote Jennifer Ross, business advisor.

MISO walked away with some awards in the Corporate Challenge’s non-profit industry and Division 4 categories. The company’s tug of war team pulled their way to an impressive second place finish. In other events, Mike Bennett, Logan Pollander, Eric Miller and Ken Delp were some of this year’s top finishers.

For those who couldn’t make it to the outdoor event, there was still room to participate. Throughout July, MISO employees participated in a virtual Movement Challenge which contributed to the team's Corporate Challenge points. About 50 employees registered for the Movement Challenge, logging their exercise habits over the month. MISO placed fifth in its division with over 2,000 miles logged.

Thank you to our employees who joined Team MISO and congratulations to all of the teams who participated in this fun event.
