MISO's evaluation of seasonal risks to resource adequacy began after a request from the Electric Natural Gas Coordination Task Force in 2013 and subsequent experience during the 2015 Polar Vortex.  Risks identified led to solution options focused on creating seasonal capacity procurements and accreditation in the Planning Resource Auction.   Previously, issues were centered on winter reliability concerns, driven largely by gas-electric (G-E) coordination issues and existing resource accreditation processes.  MISO and Stakeholders agree there is a need for additional flexibility and efficiency.
